High-voltage Disconnector

High-voltage disconnector are mechanical devices used to isolate electrical equipment from energized networks and provide a clearly visible open gap for safe inspection and maintenance; governed by IEC 62271-102 for AC disconnectors and earthing switches above 1,000 V, they are commonly available from 36 kV to 800 kV with rated currents up to 5,000 A, and are designed for isolation duties rather than load switching.
